There are two ways to view investing

Some believe that to be a successful investor requires a forecast or prediction about the future (what is the market going to do, what stock or fund is going to be the best, etc.). Unfortunately, this is the view promoted by many in the financial industry and media. The other way is based on over 70 years of empirically tested academic research and Nobel Prize winning principles.

Markets are Inefficient

The market fails to price goods and services efficiently and therefore, it is possible for individuals or entities to identify in advance which prices are inaccurate.

Markets are Efficient

All the known and knowable information is already factored into the price and only knew and unknowable information will change the price going forward.

Empirically Tested Academic Research and Nobel Prize winning principles

Efficient Market Hypothesis

First explained by Eugene F. Fama in his 1965 doctoral thesis: “An efficient market is defined as a market where there are large numbers  of rational, profit-maximizers actively competing, with each trying to predict future market values of individual securities, and where important current information is almost freely available to all participants

Modern Portfolio Theory

Modern Portfolio Theory, which earned Harry Markowitz the Nobel Prize in 1990, allows individual investors to understand how a portfolio’s expected returns vary with the amount of risk taken for a given combination of asset classes.

Three Factor Model

In 1991 Eugene F. Fama and Kenneth R. French, two leading economists, conducted an exhaustive investigation into the sources of risk and return. Grounded in Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH), their research revealed that a portfolio’s exposure to three simple but diverse risk factors determines the vast majority of investment results.

Our Investment Philosophy

Our investment philosophy consists of two critical components:  Market Belief and Investment Strategy.

Our market belief is that free markets work, that all the knowable and predictable information is already factored into the current price; that only new and unknowable information will change pricing going forward.

The Investment Strategy we support seeks to capture market rates of return and eliminate speculating and gambling (stock picking, market timing, and track record investing) from the investment process.

Investor Coaching

Investor Coaching is about training and developing investors to be prudent and disciplined over a lifetime; it is about education and helping you build the confidence to fulfill your financial goals and dreams. Focusing on both the science of investing and the science of human behavior, we help you create a purpose for your money, a purpose greater than money itself; providing you the opportunity to align your investments to fulfill on that purpose. Coaching can make the difference between being prudent and disciplined versus making potentially destructive choices around your money.

A peacemaker, on the other hand, will boldly confront because they aren’t concerned about themselves; they’re motivated by truth. There’s a lot of noise out there that passes for financial advice these days. The biggest benefit you’ll have in working with me is I’m going to tell you the truth…
